CV mistakes are very normal for the job hunters. Whenever a candidate starts his journey to find an appropriate job he makes a resume / CV and then submits it. But this step holds critical importance in the job hunting process. As this would be the first step in finding a good J-O-B.
Not exactly the first step as you see from the above mentioned JOB Search Process Diagram, but holds the most significance as this will open the door for interviews. If this step is not taken seriously this will close or end the JOB SEARCH PROCESS.
Many a guys wonder they are sending CV’s to every place but none responds back. Well basically they need to evaluate there mistakes and refine there CV to fit any specific JOB more appropriately.
Below are the top 5 CV Blunders that you need to avoid.
1- Selfish Objectives:
Don’t write any selfish Objectives i-e that I want to get experience in accounts department or I want to learn HR Policies from the best or similar. This leaves an impression that the person is not much interested in working for the said organization rather he’ll learn and apply those skills somewhere else.
2- Irrelevant Information:
Use every line of your resume to build your credibility and trust. Don’t include information like hobbies, weight, marital status, religion and similar if they are not asked.
3- Relevant Job Experiences:
If you have had a few different experiences in different departments then only mention those experiences which are related or relevant to the JOB you are applying for. If the job you are applying for is in accounts then mention accounts experience or share information in your CV that will convey your analytical skills or record keeping skills.
4- References:
Don’t enter the line “Reference will be furnished upon request” if they have been asked then do add those with updated accurate details. If they have not been asked in the job requirement then don’t add those.
5- Bad Experiences in previous JOB:
Don’t Share any information about any bad experience in previous JOB. Any issues with management , not able to meet deadlines or low salary etc etc. Cause these will just give an impression of non-commitment towards the organization.
Well hope avoiding these mistakes will help you become more relevant towards the J-O-B and a strong candidate to be called for the interview.
Happy Job Hunting.

good points raised sir
very common mistakes that we commonly ignore
thanx 4 pointing out the outcomes of such mistakes
exactly right brother. we dont know our mistakes and blame companies or employers that they dont call us for interview.
HMMM. ACHEY POINTS BTAYE HEN AP NEY.AB YAQINAN ESI MISTAKES NI HONGI.
thanks alot. we need such a guide.even we r not tought about these things during our studies.

WE WILL ALWAYS NEED U.
Tusi gr8 ho bahi
i was waitng 4 the episode
achi episode he. hope next b informative hongi.
tirmizi bhai in point number#2, u’ve told not to add hobbies, weight, marital status etc.
I’d like include that “INTERESTS & HOBBIES” should be included in the C.V or Resume. It plays a vital role sometimes.
@Shahzeb // again you’ve to skillfully use those interest or hobbies that might be inline with the nature of the job or give a positive impact …
@Shahzeb // again you’ve to skillfully use those interest or hobbies that might be inline with the nature of the job or give a positive impact …
Mostly I see in interest section it just says ” browsing the internet or chating or playing games etc” which is absurd …
Mistake#6: Some spellings in your video are wrong. Try not to repeat such kind of mistakes
hahaha! It really sucks. Only useful or unique hobbies should be mentioned. Like if a woman likes to play golf etc.
ahhahah ! yeah my video editing guy is Nalaik
kaan kainchanay parain gae … I don’t spend too much time in proof reading which I should be … but I give maximum stuff to him in writing and he can also do spell check but still leaves these kind of errors .. but then again it will get better soon …
women who like to play golf … well there are many who are after tiger wooods $$$$
hahaha! 2 3 chittar bhi laga dena usay :p
Golf is kinda “MARDON WALA KHEL” dats y it seems different in opposite sex.
@Shahzeb // waisay chitaar wala idea bura nahien hai :d that might just work …
dear brother video is awsome but ap ki awaz torri slow hai
@Ejju Mumtaz // thanks for appreciating // point noted … will work on it in future videos ….
i think the 3rd point is much more irrelevant.. whats the problem in mentioning all the experinces ??
isn’t a good way to show alll your capabilites ?
Well too much of something is bad for you !!!! if you put down too many experiences its gonna create a bad impact … and you don’t get too many chances @ getting hired or fired ..
@ yasemmen
cool man, we should be thanks to TARMIZI for informing from such type of small mistakes which we dont care and gives a bad impression…
This just goes to show how easily we ignore the things that we might be thinking are going in our favor but they don’t ..
You’ve to look at things from employers point of view , put yourself in his shoes .. and think and play your cards accordingly …
Nice Video ! Tirmizi Bhai …
video play krny pr aisa lagta hai jesy koe action game start ho raha hai..
quite good
jis mulk me rishwat or sifarish chalti he wahan cv na bhi ho to kam chal jata he
In terms of content very strong, technically the sound required some improvement and above all I would request the “Music” to be not made as part of the video blogs. The natural sounds are a better choice to replace them
, that’s where I call the application of Deen comes into play.
Anyway, I apologize if the comments had hurt anyone’s feelings as this was not intended the sole purpose is the welfare of listeners here.
Irrelevant Information:
Use every line of your resume to build your credibility and trust. Don… See More’t include information like hobbies, weight, marital status, religion and similar if they are not asked.
Brother Tirmizi, as a student of Psychology and having studied different Psychological and contemporary subjects, the sections like Interests, Marital Status, Religion (except the weight or others) are a part of diversity, and they contribute positively in maintaining the diversity factor of the organization. However, under the Irrelevant Information I would include irrelevant Job Experience as a part of them
All in all it was a good effort, because we require many Pakistanis to make such videos which will evolve a sense of organizations and its functions in the people.
Thus, every constructive effort is appreciated in that regard.
@Sadaf // thanks for appreciating …
@usman Nizamani // I appreciate your point of view about the background music … however, I feel that the background music brings some energy to the video and makes it lively .. however, your point is valid too … and noted but I am afraid for now i’ll stick with my thoughts and you haven’t hurt any feelings rather its nice to see people having difference of opinion …
@Syed Shah // brother its not true … there are tons and tons of jobs in Pakistan .. but for the right kind of candidate , if you don’t have the required skills and if you keep knocking at the doors , nobody would answer .. you first have to develop those skills in order too be the best match for the job.
Finally for the Irrelevant information thingi … a few of those things are frequently mentioned in the resume … like marital status, NIC # , father name , relegion etc .. like I said if you don’t have anything else to make the CV stronger you can definatly add those .. but if you’ve some solid points then add those and leave these out ..
u roxxxx bro…
O Paa G Claps for u Good effort G
tirmizi bhai..kindly avoid spelling mistakes first in your presentations..there are many..!!!
D Adnan // surprising is the fact nobody bothers to read the comments .. but anyways … will pay more attention next time …
plz check the spelling mistakes
@Khalid // LOL buddy // will do ..
all the best..you are doing an
all the best..you are doing an excellent job though..:)
I think in Pakistan you find jobs through networking or by making connections..with professional people.. Resume I do not think matters in Pakistan.. I know many of my cousins found jobs this way..! networking is the way..
@Kidwai // that surely is gaining popularity .. and I won’t suggest people to go that route … they should … however, the traditional method is still very much operative too … and many huge companies follow that method .. so lots of betterment needs to be brought in that arena … once done I am sure the success rate would increase substaintially..
yes i agreed
Very True
hahaha! have u noticed a point that all the comments are added on the 9th and 13th of may 2010.,,.,.,., can i ask why????
Great Observation Waqas // Actually the reason is that the comments were integrated from different platform like facebook and youtube for the same video .. The video was posted on those sites earlier and then posted here .. and then comments you can say were imported from there ..
I hope this solves the confussion.
Cheers
